New Energy Vehicles: Used in inverter circuits within motor controllers (for example, the Tesla Model 3 uses 24 IGBT modules).
Industrial Variable Frequency Drives: Drive motor speed adjustment to achieve energy-saving operation.
Photovoltaic and Wind Power Inverters: Convert DC to AC for grid connection.
Rail Transit: Used in the traction conversion systems of electric locomotives.
Smart Home Appliances: Such as variable-frequency air conditioners, induction cookers, etc.
Structure and Working Principle Overview
The IGBT is composed of an N-channel MOSFET and a PNP transistor, forming a four-layer (P-N-P-N) structure:
Conduction: Applying a positive voltage to the gate (> threshold voltage) forms an electron channel while injecting holes into the N-drift region, performing conductivity modulation and significantly reducing the on-state resistance.
Turn-off: When the gate voltage is removed, the channel disappears, carriers recombine, and the current rapidly decreases. ...
